There are are 6 courses funded by the NSFAS in the disciple of engineering and technology. These courses are funded to the universities stydienst as well as the TVET college appcliants. The eligibility criteria for both the universities and the TVET college student are different.

These coursea re offered in the several universities including Univerity of Cape Town, Central Univeristy of Technology, University of Johannesgurge, University of Pretoria, University of the Witwaterstand, Cape Pennusla University of technology. Additionally, if you are a student of TVET college any of Cntral Johnnesburge, Ekurhuleni East TVET College, Ekurhuleni West TVET College, Tashwane North TVET College and Tashwane South TVET College.  

Health Sciences:

There are 7 courses funded by the NSFAS in the health sciences discipline. The eligibility criteria of the admission and then funding for any fo the course depends on the financial circumstances of a student. Ensure that the student is getting admission in a recgnissed institute by South AFrican Higehr Education Comission.

5. Medical Laboratory Sciences

7. Physiotherapy

The fundiend is available only for the graduation prorgams. If a student studies in any of the NSFAS enlisted univietries pursuing the health sciences discipoline he will get the funding. Therefore, the students of University of Cape Town, University of Limpopo, University of the Witwatersrand, University of Pretoria, Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University,, University of Stellenbosch, University of KwaZulu-Natal, University of the Free State and Walter Sisulu University will get funding by the NSFAS.

Business and Commerce:

The business and comemrece are pipruse discimples in South AFica that’s why thousands of students from all around the country get admission in the courses. The NSFAS fund only 6 choruses in 2025 and 2026 relevant to the vbusiness and commerce. These courses studenst will be funded if the students are pursuing them in accredited univerities.

The list of business anc comemrnec courses is not long, only 6 courses are funded by the NSFAS. Busiess and commerece courses are taught at univeirteis and TVEt colleges. Howver, an appcliant must be studying any of the these univetries: University of the Witwatersrand, University of Johannesburg, University of Cape Town, University of South Africa (UNISA), University of the Western Cape, University of the Free State and University of Pretoria.

However, if you are a TVET college student, you can get funding from the NSFAS. Howver, you ust study any of the these collegeses: Ingwe College, King Sabata Dalindyebo College, Letaba College and King Hintsa College. The students of posyt graduate or those who study except any of these institutes will not get funding. 

Social Sciences and Humanities:

Disciples like social sciences and humanities are also funded by the NSFAS. 7 courses of the social socen and humanities are supported by National Student Finaidal Aid Scheme. However, the fundiend has been stopped ofr post graudate and doctoral students of these discoples.

An applicant who studies any of these courses can get the funding by NSFAS but if he studies in an accredited university. For instance, the applicants from University of Johannesburg, University of Cape Town, University of Pretoria, University of South Africa (UNISA), University of the Western Cape, University of the Witwatersrand and University of KwaZulu-Natal. 

Natural and Applied Sciences:

Another group of disciple is called natural and applied sciences which is funded by the NSFAS. Howver, NSFAS does not fund a large number of the dsicipleins in the country. Only 6 coruses are funded by the NSFAS so if yo are perused or planning to study any of them, you can get NSFAS fianicla assitance.

There are several univetries in the south africa teaching these courses. But students from he accredited univerties will get the NSFAS fundung. Therefore, applciants from University of the Witwatersrand, University of Pretoria, University of Cape Town, University of KwaZulu-Natal, and University of the Western Cape can enroll in the NSFAS fianical assitance prorgam by NSFAS. 

Arts and Humanities:

There are sevral arts and humaniteis coruses but inly 6 are funded by the NSFAS. Basically, the arts and humanities are not the focus on majorty of the students that’s why the NSFAS funding oppterunities are limited. Here are the 6 coruses funded by NSFAS:

When it comes to the universities funded by teh NSFAS, the list is long. The arts and humanities students should get admission in University of Cape Town, University of the Witwatersrand, University of Johannesburg, University of Pretoria, or University of the Western Cape and University of KwaZulu-Natal. 

Agriculture and Environmental Studies:

The last group of disciplines funded by NSFAS are agriculture and environmental stduies. The students in these two disciples are less than expected each year therefore only 6 courses are funded by the National Students Finacial Aid Scheme. See the courses below:

Applicants from University of KwaZulu-Natal, University of the Western Cape, University of the Witwatersrand, University of Pretoria and University of Cape Town will get the NSFAS funding if they meet the eligibility criteria. 

What is The Eligibility Cirteira of NSFAS Application 2025-2026? 

Majority of the people advance forward wuithout seeing the eligibility criteria and when their applications are rejected by the NSFAS, the accuse it of favortims. • An applicant must peruse or about to peruse his graduation in the accredited TVET college or University. 
• An applicant must fall any of these categories:
• An applicant is an SASSA grant reccipent. 
• The total combined household income of an appcliant is R350,000 per annum. 
• An applicant is with disability and have total combined houshold income must not be more than R600,000 per annum. 
• An applciant whos tarted studing before 2018, his combined total income must not more than R122,000 per annum.
