No Payment Date for SRD Grant: What Should You Do?
If you have been approved for the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant in South Africa, but have not yet received a payment date, there are some steps you can take to ensure you receive your payment.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) advises beneficiaries who have chosen the cash send payment method and have not yet received a payment date to provide their banking information on the Sassa website. This is necessary because grants cannot be paid into someone else’s bank account, so beneficiaries need to provide their own information for payment.
In order to receive SMS messages regarding cash send payments, beneficiaries must have their own registered mobile number. If the mobile number is registered under another person’s name, Sassa will not make the grant payment. This measure is in place to prevent fraud and ensure payments go to the correct recipients.
If you have chosen the cash send payment method and have not received your voucher, it is recommended to contact the bank you selected. They will be able to assist you and resend the voucher if it was mistakenly deleted.
Here are the contact numbers for the banks for cash send inquiries:
- ABSA – 0 800 000 122
- TYME BANK – 0860 999 119
- NEDBANK – 0 800 555 111
- FNB – 0875 759 405
- Standard Bank – 0860 466 639
Once you have received your grant payment, it can be collected from various locations, including personal bank accounts and select supermarkets such as Pick n Pay, Boxer Stores, Checkers, Shoprite, Usave, and selected OK Foods Supermarkets. It is important to note that the grant will remain in your account until you need it, so you do not have to collect it on the specific payment date.
Social Relief of Distress grants are provided to South African citizens, refugees, asylum seekers, and special permit holders between the ages of 18 and 60 who have insufficient means or do not receive any social grants or UIF payments. If you fall into this category and have been approved for the SRD grant, you should follow the steps mentioned above to ensure you receive your payment.
