Sassa Card Collection: Date and Location
Every month, thousands of citizens rely on social grants to purchase basic goods and services. To ensure they continue receiving their grants, grant recipients should collect new gold cards.
How to Collect Your New Sassa Gold Card
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has made it easier for grant recipients to get their new gold cards. As their current gold cards are nearing expiration, beneficiaries must collect new ones.
Collecting a new gold card is similar to using a regular bank card. Any supermarket or retail store can accept gold cards as payment.
If your current gold card is expiring, you can collect a new Sassa gold card at a Post Office branch. However, the Post Office will only issue gold cards to the individual whose card is expiring. Procurators registered with Sassa can collect gold cards on behalf of others.
When to Collect Your New Sassa Gold Card
The issuing of new gold cards follows a schedule to ensure a smooth process:
- On Mondays and Tuesdays, new gold cards are issued to beneficiaries of old age grants and disability grants.
- From Wednesday to Saturday, new gold cards are issued to child support grant beneficiaries and all remaining grants.
Post Office branch hours are as follows:
- Mondays to Fridays: 8 AM – 4 PM
- Saturdays: 9 AM – 1 PM
- Sundays: Closed
What You Need to Collect Your New Sassa Gold Card
When collecting your new gold card, make sure to have the following:
- Your South African Identity Document (ID)
- Your Sassa gold card expiring in March 2024
After receiving your new gold card, you can activate it and select a PIN at the Post Office. Once activated, you can use the card for purchases and withdrawals.
If you have lost your gold card, the Post Office can provide you with a new one after conducting a verification check.
Cautionary Note
If your Sassa gold card is not expiring by March 2024, it is not necessary to visit the Post Office for a new card at this time.
Visit your nearest Post Office branch to collect your new Sassa gold card and continue receiving social grants without any interruptions.
